Former
members of pioneering hip-hop band, ‘Remedies’ performed together as a group
for the first time in many years at Jimmy’s Jump Off on the eve of Nigeria’s
53rd independence anniversary.
In
what turned out to be one of the highlights of the event hosted by DJ Jimmy
JATT on Monday, September 30, at GET
Arena, Eedris Abdulkareem and Eddy Montana who rested their music band (which
had earlier included Tony Tetuila) about a decade ago to pursue successful solo
careers came on stage and surprised the fans.
Eedris
who had earlier mounted the stage to perform his latest single ‘I go Wooz You’
was suddenly joined by Eddy Montana to perform their award-winning hit,
‘Shakomo’.
As
a band, Remedies scored massive hits in the 90s with their debut album which
included tracks ‘Belinda’, ‘Shakomo’ and ‘Judile’ before the group was
disbanded. Tony Tetuila was the first to leave the group under resentful
circumstances which later spurred a verbal animosity between him and the
remaining group members.
